This Giant Ficus was planted in 1850 (Historical base) by the Mizo Chief - Tlutpawrha in remembrance of his remarkable victory over Halkha Pawi, who repeatedly invaded mizo villages during the early 19th. Century.
In 1850, the Halkha Pawi (the invader) used to came to Lungmawi Village, in the middle of the night, while the worriors of Halkha Pawi were deeply sleeping in their respective host families, Lungmawi worriors, led by Kawlkawlha (Pasaltha), suddenly entered the houses and killed the Halkha Pawi and cut their heads.
In the next morning, the deceased of the Halkha Pawi were thrown down to the Cliff, (nearby this ficus). Because of this incident, this Cliff was named "Pawi Thlak Kham" which means "Cliff where Pawi were thrown down"). As a celebration of thi victory, The Lushi Chief Tlutpawrha planted this Ficus in remembrance of his victory over Halkha Pawi.
When the news about the killing of Halkha Pawi came to know in their homeland, they hurriedly made a plan to take revenge upon Lushai. As a result of this incidents, Halkha Pawi did a historical massacre named ‘Khawnglung Run” in around 1856-1859.
